WhyFaceless Void loses the lane clearly to Weaver's ranged harass, but he likely gains the advantage later by countering Weaver's high-mobility playstyle. Time Dilation heavily punishes Weaver for casting Shukuchi or The Swarm by extending cooldowns, slowing mobility, and inflicting scaling damage. Furthermore, trapping Weaver inside Chronosphere prevents the use of Time Lapse to escape or regain health.
Weaver Counters & Build
Weaver is countered by Faceless Void, Phantom Lancer and Slark, and performs best against Pudge, Windranger and Tidehunter — patch 7.41e, legend–ancient.
Countered by
5These heroes beat Weaver more often than their general strength explains.
WhyWeaver relies primarily on single-target physical damage from Geminate Attack and lacks inherent area-of-effect damage, making it extremely difficult for him to clear Phantom Lancer's swarm of Juxtapose and Doppelganger illusions. Doppelganger also provides a basic dispel to remove The Swarm beetles and reset targeting, while Phantom Rush allows Phantom Lancer and his illusions to easily close the gap and overwhelm Weaver.
WhyAlthough the laning phase is roughly even, Slark controls Weaver in mid-to-late game engagements by using Pounce to leash Weaver, preventing him from escaping with Shukuchi's maximum movement speed. Slark easily dominates extended skirmishes by sapping Weaver's attributes and movement speed with Essence Shift and Saltwater Shiv while utilizing Shadow Dance to remain untargetable.
WhyNecrophos secures an early lane advantage because Ghost Shroud prevents Weaver from dealing physical damage with Geminate Attack. Furthermore, Death Pulse cannot be disjointed by Shukuchi or Time Lapse, and the stun from Reaper's Scythe locks Weaver down to execute him before he can revert his health with Time Lapse.
WhyAstral Imprisonment locks Weaver down and steals a portion of his maximum mana, setting up Sanity's Eclipse to deal massive burst damage based on their wide mana difference directly into the prison before Weaver can react with Time Lapse. Furthermore, the pure damage from Arcane Orb allows Outworld Destroyer to quickly shred Weaver's fragile health pool.
Strong against
5Weaver outperforms against these.
WhyOutside of the lane, Weaver easily kites Pudge using max movement speed from Shukuchi and bonus attack range from Rewoven to stay safely beyond Rot and Meat Hook range. The Swarm steadily strips Pudge's armor while Geminate Attack exploits this with high physical damage from afar. If Weaver survives an initial Meat Hook or Dismember initiation, Time Lapse completely undoes the burst damage and repositions Weaver to safety.
WhyWindranger relies on locking down and bursting single targets with Shackleshot and Focus Fire, but Weaver can disjoint incoming projectiles and immediately undo her burst damage and debuffs with Time Lapse's strong dispel and health rewind. Furthermore, Shukuchi grants maximum movement speed and invisibility to kite Windranger, while The Swarm continuously provides vision and strips her armor.
WhyWeaver establishes an early advantage in lane by using his ranged attacks and Rewoven's bonus range to harass the melee Tidehunter from safe distances. The Swarm continuously shreds Tidehunter's armor to bypass his natural durability, while Geminate Attack lets Weaver quickly clear the anchor from Dead in the Water. Additionally, Weaver can use Shukuchi to reposition away from Anchor Smash range and Time Lapse to strongly dispel Gush debuffs and recover from Ravage burst.
WhyWeaver establishes an early lane advantage by using range and Shukuchi's max movement speed to kite the melee Sven. In fights, Weaver can disjoint or reverse Sven's Storm Hammer initiation with Time Lapse's strong dispel, while The Swarm shreds Sven's armor and forces him to divert attacks to remove the beetles.
WhyWeaver loses the lane clearly against Sniper's superior range from Keen Scope and constant Shrapnel harass, but takes over later in the game. In teamfights, Weaver uses Shukuchi to bypass Sniper's spacing and latch The Swarm beetles to strip armor and provide vision, while Rewoven helps match his range. Time Lapse also hard-counters Sniper by disjointing Assassinate projectiles and undoing his burst damage.
