WhySniper outranges Disruptor's entire spell kit using Keen Scope, Take Aim, and Assassinate, allowing him to safely burst Disruptor down without ever stepping into the range of Kinetic Field or Static Storm. Additionally, Sniper bypasses Disruptor's Electromagnetic Repulsion passive entirely by dealing all of his damage from well beyond its 400-radius threshold.
Disruptor Counters & Build
Disruptor is countered by Sniper, Sven and Tinker, and performs best against Anti-Mage, Juggernaut and Slark — patch 7.41e, legend–ancient.
Countered by
5These heroes beat Disruptor more often than their general strength explains.
WhyAlthough the lane is roughly even, Sven's God's Strength provides slow resistance that mitigates the movement slowing effects of Thunder Strike. Additionally, Sven can initiate with Storm Hammer to stun Disruptor and rapidly burst him down with Vanquisher's bonus damage before Disruptor can set up Kinetic Field and Static Storm.
WhyTinker's Defense Matrix grants an all-damage barrier and Status Resistance, helping him withstand Disruptor's magical damage and control spells. Furthermore, Tinker can use Warp Flare to root Disruptor, teleport him away, and reduce his cast range, disrupting his ability to land Kinetic Field and Static Storm combos while Rearm keeps these defensive tools readily available.
WhyBatrider can use Firefly to fly over terrain and initiate directly onto Disruptor, preventing him from setting up Kinetic Field or Static Storm with Flaming Lasso's complete disable. Additionally, the turn rate and movement slows from Sticky Napalm combined with continuous damage from Smoldering Resin and Firefly make it difficult for Disruptor to maneuver or retaliate before being dragged out of position.
WhyAlthough the laning phase is roughly even, Nature's Prophet gains the upper hand in the broader game by punishing Disruptor's lack of mobility with Sprout and global map presence. Because Nature's Prophet attacks from long range and can overwhelm Disruptor with Treants and Curse of the Oldgrowth, he easily threatens the fragile support without triggering Disruptor's close-range Electromagnetic Repulsion.
Strong against
5Disruptor outperforms against these.
WhyAlthough Disruptor loses the laning stage against Anti-Mage, his teamfight control becomes devastating later in the game. Ground-targeted area spells like Static Storm and Kinetic Field bypass Counterspell, trapping Anti-Mage and silencing his Blink and defensive tools. Additionally, Glimpse directly punishes Anti-Mage's mobility by dragging him back after he attempts to escape with Blink.
WhyDisruptor loses the laning stage against Juggernaut, as Blade Fury provides debuff immunity to walk freely through Kinetic Field while mitigating magic damage. Later in the game, Disruptor takes control because Static Storm silences Juggernaut to prevent him from casting Blade Fury or Omnislash, while Glimpse drags him back into teamfights once his defensive abilities expire.
WhyAlthough their laning phase is roughly even, Disruptor troubles Slark in teamfights by combining Kinetic Field and Static Storm, trapping him in an area silence that prevents him from activating Dark Pact or Shadow Dance. Furthermore, Glimpse completely counters Slark's hit-and-run mobility by dragging him back after he engages or escapes with Pounce, while Thunder Strike provides vision to disrupt his passive bonuses.
WhyDisruptor directly counters Dawnbreaker's global presence by using Glimpse to send her back across the map immediately after she lands with Solar Guardian, dealing heavy distance-based damage in the process. Additionally, Static Storm's silence and Kinetic Field's barrier prevent her from executing her Starbreaker combo or maneuvering in close-quarters teamfights.
WhyGlimpse severely punishes Storm Spirit's high-mobility playstyle by dragging him back across the map after long Ball Lightning zips and dealing damage based on the travel distance. Additionally, Static Storm's area silence combined with Kinetic Field traps Storm Spirit in place, completely preventing him from casting Ball Lightning to escape.
